Satmar Rebbe: "Lapid is willing to dorwn any Haredi"

Yesterday (Monday) took place the annual Williamsburg dinner for Satmar institutions for the benefit of institutions in Israel. The Rebbe carried the main speech.

Guest of honor at the dinner was Harmi"m of Satmar yeshiva in Bnei Brak, who arrived especially, explaining the danger hovering over all Klal Yisrael with the terrible decree of recruiting yeshiva students.

"Recently a Jewish man came to me," the Rebbe began, "a Haredi businessman who doesn’t belong to Satmar. He told me what is happening in Israel these days. I was shocked by the extent of religious persecution there. I cannot describe all the fear that Jews in Israel are. People are sitting in a room and want no less, than to destroy the Orthodox Jewry in Israel."

"If we look back in תשל"ו a new government was formed in Israel and began distributing money to Torah institutions. My uncle the Divrei Yoel, of blessed memory in his old age, two years before his death, then cried a bitter cry, this is a great danger, and all they want is not the money and budgets they give, but only to intervene in Haredi education. Everyone thought he did not know what he is talking about, almost 40 years it lasted and they gave free money. Now they decided to end the division of the money, but now it is very difficult to break away from the money, after they are already adapted to it."

"The Rambam asks, why were the Egyptians and Pharaoh punished with the ten plagues? There was a decree of exile on Bnei Yisrael? The Ohr Hachaim answers that although Pharaoh did what he did out of malice only. Not because of G-d's decree and the need to do what he said, but he was evil and wanted to kill the people of Israel. Greatest evidence for this is, since he has done more than usual and harsher beyond what the original decree included.

"I say here too. Present case. The decree is to stop financial support. Allegedly stated, the contrary, at last everyone will see the truth, everyone will understand that the cry of the Divrei Yoel zt"l. However, all this true, if the Minister of Finance had said announced and sent letters to institutions, since it is a democratic country and one cannot mix religion and state, and so he decided to stop the transfers and the distribution of money to institutions, then we can say he deserves a medal ... He is doing what G-d wants ... but he is not. He is evil and wants to destroy Orthodox Judaism. He is full of hate and evil religion of Israel, the Torah world. He is ready to drown any Orthodox Jew who learns Torah in a glass of water. He is as wicked as Pharaoh at the time."

The Rebbe concluded his harsh words: "So, now we do not know what tomorrow will bring. But the time will come and we will have to take to the streets of the city, cry a bitter cry against evil, against persecution, hatred against the Torah world. Even though those that caused it, are not right that they took money. Despite this, we must go out and cry out against the wickedness and decrees that the evil Minister is plotting against Jewish religion.
