Chabad of California was forced to evacuate due to the fire. Not less than two thousand firefighters, tried for three days to take over the largest forest fire, which broke out last weekend in Ventura California.
On Friday when the fire continued to spread, thousands of people were forced to leave their homes to shelter provided by the government.
Rabbi Shneur Schneerson, Chabad emissary in Newbury Park, said that the area where the fire broke out not far away man Jews live especially elderly Jews, in the area are a number of synagogues.
Rabbi said that on Friday, authorities announced that residents must evacuate the area for fear of the spread of the fire: "I saw the fire from the window of my house, I live just 100 feet from the fire, the fire broke out on the mountain and spread quickly despite the trees which were still wet from the rain that fell here recently.
"I sent my wife and family to Los Angeles, opened the sprinklers around the house to wet the walls, so that the fire, if it reaches my home will not catch the walls, and I came back here to see what happens with the elderly and to assist them.
"No house was burned and there were no injuries despite the fire whose dimensions were large in comparison to others", told Rabbi Shneur Schneerson.
"Reb Shlomo Sander of 101 is an Orthodox Jew born in Poland, he said that on Friday morning, was forced to evacuate to a shelter, because of the smoke and fire.
"I was not scared and panicked, I'd seen those difficult scenes, thank God we shall survive it, it seems that firefighters were able to control the fire, and I hope we can return home before Shabbos," he said.
