Since retiring from the army Mandelblitt wrote thesis at Bar Ilan University on international law, which specialized in the research at the Institute for National Security Studies. Military court officials speculated that he will bring added value to the government which will be international law expertise.
Mandelblitt intended to run for district judge, but due to the proposal received from the Prime Minister, whom he knew over the years and in light of the international law of occupation - decided to give up on judgment for now.
Mandelblitt will replace the cabinet secretary of the last four years, Tzvi Hauser, Netanyahu announced in January his intention to finish his job.
