Jerusalem: harsh report against the Torah Culture Department

Tension at the Torah Culture Department of the Municipality of Jerusalem: several senior Departments recently received a draft report compiled into their own hands by municipality comptroller, in which she criticizes the conduct of the division.

The report was also sent to Mayor Nir Barkat, City Manager Yosef Heyman, and more.

Department, headed by Gavriel Stauber, is responsible among other things, for cultural events in the Haredi sector. In the past years its members have gained considerable experience in operating libraries throughout the city, producing mass events like holiday events and festivals, the existence of markets, running many courses on various subjects, the existence of fairs and more.

B'Chadrei Charedim learned that department officials received last week the report written by Malka Dror, comptroller, and they will respond in detail to the arguments raised against them. A source at the municipality said that one of the serious allegations in the report was written after a complaint from one of the companies who ran and lost the publishing of a Pesach Hagaddah by the Department.

Due to the fact that the number of recipients of the report is small, most of the factors in the municipality are not aware of its findings.

Another reason for the uncertainty is the fact that the report is still not published. It is estimated that the final report will be published in a few months. According to a source in the municipality however, it may be published only "after the election."
