Ruling of Rabbi Moshe Zeev Zargar, one of the Satmar rabbis against haredi soldiers wearing uniforms in Haredi neighborhoods, which stated to throw them from the synagogue to avoid the phenomenon to gain momentum, prompted a wave of angry responses within the Haredi community.

Rabbi David Bloch, founder of Nahal Haredi, resented the words: "we have been told by our ancestors: 'anyone who opposes the good in his friend- may end up opposing the good of Hashem', anyone who is not grateful towards the soldier for his defense of the Jews in Israel, so he can live here in relative peace, sis ungrateful."

He said, "There is no connection between the Zionist ideology heretical reading and gratitude to those who physically make it possible with G-d's help so that each resident can live here, and to manage his life as he sees fit. Even if we were living in exile and there are enemies who want to destroy us - we must be grateful to those who worked and are working to save lives. One could be anti-Zionist and still be grateful to those who risked saving lives. Such a call is a serious failure of values."

Haredi IDF soldiers actually broadcasted business as usual. "This is my commitment, and I am fine with it," says Chaim S., a soldier serving in one of the ultra-Orthodox Shahar tracks. "The day I realized that as part of my abilities I am not able to sit and learn Torah all day - I joined the army, and no extremist will move me from my decision."

Chaim believes that the definition of 'full-time Torah' is also valid to a haredi soldier, "a man who due to various limitations drafted, that does not make him less worthy of the Torah. Especially not when it comes to an Orthodox soldier. It is unnecessary in our view to relate to people in extreme ideology of life based on values that are against the Torah and Halacha. Equally I can claim him he was dressed in black."

For the first time Chaim also refers to the new nickname stuck to Orthodox soldiers - Chardakim: "It's not something on me or my friends mind in the IDF," he immediately replies, "We live our truth. We look at our way through Torah and halacha, more deliberate way, and not like the Rabbi who shouted words without basis."
