Cleared for publication: An indictment was issued this morning (Thursday) at the Jerusalem District Court against five residents of East Jerusalem, for a series of crimes - including conspiracy to commit murder, aiding the enemy in time of war and weapons production.

According to the indictment, it stems that the five planned to carry out a shooting attack against Jews coming to pray on the Temple Mount. In addition, they planned to shoot police officers stationed in the area to secure the visitors.

According to the indictment, less than a year ago, the defendant, Nur Hamdan, decided to execute a shooting attack against Jews who come to pray on the Temple Mount and against the police forces stationed in the area.

Hamdan recruited other terrorists, made contact with terrorist organizations Az a-Din al-Qassam and Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, and activists in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, in order to make use of them and get support.

The ,members of the squad planned to murder Jews praying on the Temple Mount and attack police in the area. In addition, they planned to kidnap a Jew, take away his weapon and then murder him.

Members of the squad have already started executing their plans: a month ago, at a bus stop at the checkpoint of Hizma, two defendants took a Jew in their car, but after seeing that the man is not carrying a weapon, they dropped him at the entrance to Adam settlement.

The prosecution asked to extend their detention until the end of proceedings.
