IDF meeting held recently, considered changes to benefits granted to ultra-Orthodox fighters of the Shahar project will be felt mostly in cut family payments and other obligations imposed on soldiers to fill.
Shahar arms representatives also attended the meeting, which raised the need for the entire military cuts, and the possibility of such cuts imposed on payments to the families as well, which now stands at NIS 5,000, a high rate which may even reach 50% and more.
The meeting also considered the possibility of charging Shahar recruiters in the coming rounds to perform duty and service, which they are currently exempt from carrying out.
This is a real blow to the Orthodox soldiers and those who intended to join the various Shahar tracks see this as a definite reluctance of army integration and increasing recruitment volumes.
Haredi soldier responded to B'Chadrei Charedim on these rumors: "Maybe somebody decided that if they will anyway recruit all Orthodox by coercion, so it is needless to put in effort and invest in soldiers already enlisted."
"These days the IDF held extensive staff work that examines, among other things, the issue of the scope of family payments to married soldiers," the IDF said in response to B'Chadrei Charedim. "The work relates to all the soldiers who are entitled to, and does not focus on specific sector."
"We have not yet included recommendations on the subject, and these are accepted as matters with reference to all relevant considerations, including the nature of the soldier's service and marital status."
