A multi-story tower built on the border of Neve Achiezer and Shikun Vav suburbs for an old age home, is causing fear among rabbis in Bnei Brak of a breach in modesty and Shmiras Shabbos in haredi neighborhoods, as reported by Ma'ariv site.

The tower is to be occupied by hundreds of seniors, and the concern among neighborhood rabbis in Bnei Brak is that the old age home will become the center for visitors on Shabbos, and masses of vehicles will arrive on the holy day to the place through haredi neighborhoods.

Also, the fact that the old age home will serve the general population raises fear that modesty will be breached and visitors of the old age home will not maintain modesty as women of Bnei Brak.

Recently there was a meeting at the home of Av Beis Din and Sephardi Rabbi of Neve Achiezer and Shikun Vav in Bnei Brak, Hagaon Rabbi Shlomo Mahpud, attended by a number of rabbis of neighborhoods bordering the new tower.

In addition, neighborhood residents attended, politicians and rabbis of Mishmeres Hashabbos to discuss how it would be possible to cancel the new construction project that threatens the peace of the haredi neighborhoods. It was decided to establish an executive committee, and as an initial step, before the protest demonstrations, to open a dialogue with the initiators of the project and the mayor.

The response of the Bnei Brak Municipality: "This is about a 7 story building and railings submitted for construction by the league to prevent lung disease and approved under City Building B / Mac / 3140 both in the local planning and building committee and by the District Committee of Tel - Aviv in the Ministry of Interior. An appeal filed at the District Appeals Committee was also rejected by the Commission, so that construction is underway in accordance with the relevant planning and construction laws. As to Shabbos and modesty: no doubt there will be maximum ensuring of the two subjects, and if the area rabbis will request a meeting with the mayor they will be answered with the utmost respect."
