Meah Shearim neighborhood do not miss the tradition conducted for years: In recent days, in preparation for Independence Day, residents hung black flags on rooftops and held the ritual burning of the Israeli flag.
Documentation that came to B'Chadrei Charedim shows that residents have decided to step up this year with the protest. Thus, on the largest yeshiva building and Kollel in the neighborhood – were hung the flag of Palestine.
One of the residents explained to B'Chadrei Charedim "institutions in Israel hang the Israeli flag in order to receive the state budget. Hanging a Palestinian flag is proof that we reject any budget from the state."
