Chief of Staff Benny Gantz gave a series of media interviews towards Independence Day, in which he addressed major issues related with the IDF, including the integration of Haredim. In an interview to Ynet he said the military needs the Haredim to start serving, "IDF needs more manpower. We would be glad if the Haredim serve in the IDF. "

The Chief of Staff referred to Haredim who already serve in the army and said that "in the places they served up until now, they reached good achievements, and they learned that military service is good for them too."

The Chief of Staff does not talk of a sharp change and says: "I think in a gradual, steady and continuous process it is possible to incorporate more and more elements of the Israeli society."

Despite the IDF's statements that is ready to adapt itself according to the requirements of Haredim, the Chief of Staff clarified that he would not disable women in the units in which Haredim would be incorporated: "IDF is a state army where everyone can serve and women in the IDF make a significant contribution in any system we can think about. We shall mention that in the liberation of Jerusalem we needed both Rabbi Goren and Shuli Natan ".

In an interview to channel 2, he said the IDF has the ability to attack Iran's nuclear facilities on its own. Hefurther addressed the issue of burial of soldiers and said that he l examine the separation of Jews from non-Jews
