Towards Independence Day, the 65th of Israel, school children of ORT Tsrifin Logistics and culinary arts, supervised and funded by the Vocational Training Division at the Ministry of Economy, will present the Minister of Economy Naftali Bennett a cake for Independence Day, which will include themes of the festival such as the symbols of the state, elite units of the IDF and more.
The cake will reflect artistic performance that the students learn and practice during their training at school. Students who will arrive to present the cake to the minister are a wide range of the native population of Israel: Israeli born, FSU immigrants, immigrants from Ethiopia, South America and more. The students will arrive in professional chef clothes: jacket, apron and hat.
"The cooperation between the IDF and youth training is admirable," says Shalom Ben Moshe, Director of Professional Training Division in the Ministry of Economy, "This model encourages and increases the percentage of recruits in the army, promising practical experience during their studies at basic facilities in real time, contributing to the welfare of soldiers, and gives professional experience prior to their release and integration into the world of work."
Raw materials from which the cake was baked:
35 kg of flour
350 eggs
15 kg of sugar
7 kg of powdered sugar
15 liters of cream
10 kg of sugar dough and marzipan
7 kg of butter
5 kg of nuts
5 kg of raisins soaked in brandy
4 kg bittersweet chocolate
2 kg white chocolate
The school has about 270 students (a third of them girls) who come every day from 30 different communities in the central region and represent the melting pot of Israeli society.
The meeting will be held today (Sunday) at noon at the economy minister's office in Jerusalem. After the meeting the cake will be donated to an elite military unit.
Incidentally, contrary to reports, the news was not delivered on Shabbos to Behadrey Haredim!
