In recent days, vandals defaced images of a model, on advertising signs of the clothing company Fox in Ashkelon, as reported by 'Walla' site.
The vandals, apparently haredim in the city protesting the publication of pictures of women in immodest clothing, sprayed the picture which appeared at a bus station on Hashoftim street in Givat Zion neighborhood, and on side were the words "trash" and "tame"
In recent months, there were several events of vandalizing signs throughout Ashkelon, including advertising signs which showed photos of women. A showcase of a cosmetics store was also destroyed, because it presented a picture of a woman. The present case did not occur in a harei neighborhood in the city, but one that is identified with the national-religious and traditional community.
Municipality of Ashkelon rule out the possibility that this is a phenomenon. "This is an isolated incident. Ashkelon is known for its tolerant community life, and so it should continue. Whether it is an extreme act or an attempt to undermine the peaceful life, one has to regret and condemn it," the municipality said to 'Walla'.
