New York: two babies from the Orthodox community infected with herpes

Two babies from the Orthodox community in New York were infected with herpes, probably due to the existence of mouth sucking during circumcision; the Health Department has approved New York. According to the municipality, they are investigating the cases which occurred in the last three months. Mohelim have not yet been identified.

Suspicions were aroused when one of the babies, two weeks old, appeared touched and he had high fever after circumcision.

Since 2000 there were 13 cases of infants with herpes simplex virus infection as a result of mouth sucking in the mohels mouth. However, according to many other hypotheses many other infants were infected.

Pediatrics Association again urges parents to make sure that mohels perform the circumcision of mouth sucking through the tube and direct contact with the mouth. Association said that in recent years some newborns came down with herpes infection, which can lead to death.

Earlier this year the District Court in Manhattan ordered to put into effect the regulations of the City of New York a few months earlier, according to which, every mohel must sign the parents on a special form before the procedure of the mouth sucking during circumcision, and the decision of the court - the regulations went into effect .

In this case, according to reports, the parents claim that they did not give their approval to the mohel to perform the procedure.
