The Rishon Lezion Magistrate's Court extended until Thursday the arrest of Rami Rachamim Shalom, 20, a resident of Elad, on suspicion of involvement in the shooting incident in Jerusalem as part of a dispute between yeshiva students.
Yesterday (Sunday) Shalom gave himself over to the police, on suspicion that he was involved with the shooting at the door of a house in Meah Shearim in Jerusalem, an event that took place against the background of the serious complaints against Rabbi Berland.
A week and a half ago, the Jerusalem District Attorney's Office filed to the District Court an indictment against Itai Nachman Shalom, Aaron Yaakov Richter and David Avraham Shemtov, 18, 27 and 19 respectively, who live in Jerusalem and Be'er Yaakov.
The three were accused of offenses including possession of weapons, shooting in urban and assault and aggravated injury.
The story began with serious complaints Shalom spread against Rabbi Berland.
According to the indictment quoted Rabbi Berland told Richter and Shemtov "beat Shalom and break his bones" in view of the circulated rumors.
