Lapid turned to the ultra-Orthodox: "Skip the activists and approach us"

Despite the set condition determined during the coalition negotiations – to establish a government without the Haredim - the new Finance Minister Yair Lapid continues to argue strongly that he is not fighting the haredi public, but instead he intends to benefit the sector.

The meeting of the party held at noon (Monday) at the Knesset Lapid began a direct appeal to the ultra-Orthodox public, over the heads of the activists: "I want to take the opportunity to start the day with an appeal to the haredim. In the government there are four offices that are relevant to the haredi public - finance, education, health and welfare. The Haredi public should know our door is open to them, we must help them.

"Anyone who says we want to exclude the Orthodox is wrong and misleading, and it creates a discourse of hatred and fear," Lapid said. He added: "Do not do to your neighbor what is hateful to you is a great principle. This is a government that has no Orthodox faction but it is absolutely not a government that hates the haredim."
Lapid concluded his comments on this issue: "I appeal to the Orthodox and say, I know there is a wild incitement, but I suggest you - try us, try to jump over the activists and contact us directly, and you will discover that we are more than happy to be your address."

Later on Lapid thanked Netanyahu and said: "There were a lot of stress and he was able to bridge them. Assembly of a coalition is bridging between different world views and it's not a simple thing." Then he thanked the new Minister of Economy and Trade: "I thank my friend Naftali Bennett who pushed us and made us go on."
