Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, arrived this evening (Motzaei Shabbos) to update the President that he could form a government.
The President gave his approval to form the government, which will be brought for inauguration in the Knesset, probably on Monday.
At the entrance to the meeting, Prime Minister to the President: "As you know, I was able to form a government. You imposition the task on me, and I did it. We face a decisive year in security, economics and efforts to promote peace and also the desire of the citizens of Israel to bring about a change. In this government there is co-operation, and I believe that we can bring tidings in all areas for all citizens of Israel, this is my task and I know that it is your prayer too."
The President thanked the Prime Minister for this and said: "I witnessed the labor pains in the process of forming the government, and I congratulate you that you managed to summarize the formation of the government in time. The task of forming a government is complex and required tremendous effort and resourcefulness. I congratulate you and the new government and hope that you will be able to go ahead."
Peres further added, "As you mentioned, there are problems which are outstanding but full of opportunities in the fields of security, society and making peace – promoting the peace process. The country needs it and the people need it - the time has come. My blessing is given to you and we will gladly follow the government's dealing with the issues mentioned. Yishar Koach and my blessing to you and the new government. "
The Prime Minister replied: "I thank you, we would like to use your experience and your wisdom."
