A plasterer from east Jerusalem prosecutes the Jerusalem municipality at the Magistrate's Court in Herzliya and a contractor company for 2.5 million, after he was seriously wounded when he slipped off a ladder while renovating the high ceiling at the Hurva Synagogue in the Old City.

A., 25, was employed - by a contractor as part of the renovation work at the synagogue.

According to the lawsuit, he was provided with a rickety ladder and working at a height of two meters. He climbed it until he came to the window and began to work, but while on the ladder, he lost his balance. As a result, his leg got stuck in the rung of the ladder, and he fell and hit the ground with great force.

As a result of the blow, A. severely bruised his arm and leg - and his hand was broken. That same day, he went to the kupat cholim was referred urgently to the emergency room at Hadassah Hospital for testing and X-rays performance. Later, he underwent surgery in hospital for bone reconstruction, in part through the use of bone graft.

From that day on he had to come for repeated treatments at the kupat cholim, but his condition did not improve, and got complicated. During orthopedist examination after a long series of treatments it was proved that the fracture has not healed properly.
Attorney Netanel Byrne, representing A., had filed a lawsuit against the contractor and against the city, claiming that it is responsible for the synagogues jurisdiction. He said, the place lacked minimum safety measures, and employment of the plasterer violated numerous regulations for work safety and regulations employment in Israel.

From the accident the plasterer suffered serious hand crisis, from which he has not recovered until today.

According to the lawyer, even though the accident happened two and a half years ago, the plasterer has not yet recovered, and occupation in the field, requiring physical effort, skill and agility is denied from him.

A defense has not yet been submitted.
