Baruch Dayan Ha'emes: On Friday night, at the age of 84, the world renowned paytan David Riahi z"l, was niftar after a disease of which he suffered over the last two years.
The deceased z"l was born in Tunis on 17th Kislev 5689. More than a jubilee ago he made aliyah with his family, and fixed his abode in Jerusalem.
Later, he was called by the Rav of Natanya, Hagaon R' David Shlush, to come and serve as the regular chazzan of the central synagogue in the city, and moved to reside at the "city of diamonds".
On days of Yomtov he was often invited to the home of Hagr"o Yosef, where he would sound his pleasant voice. At the yearly celebration in Kisse Rahamim yeshiva he would perform regularly.
His acquaintances tell of a unique chazzan in the realm of paytanut, with a rare knowledge, combined with good traits and Derech Eretz.
May of the great chazanim are his students, including: Yechiel Nahari, Moshe Havusha and others.
He is survived by 9 children and tens of descendants.
His levaya took place on Motzaei Shabbos at 23:00 at the cemetery of Netanya.
May his soul be cherished in the bundle of life.
