End of chase • driver who hit Gloiber couple - arrested

The chase after of the most wanted man in New York has come to an end: Five days after the fatal accident in Williamsburg, where the couple Nachman and Reizie Gloiber z"l were killed, the driver who fled the scene of the accident was arrested in a store in Bethlehem, in the state of Pennsylvania.

NYPD announced that Julio Acevedo, 44, a resident of Brooklyn, who allegedly drove the BMW car which hit the taxi which drove Nachman and Reizi Gloibar z"l, was arrested.

He walked in the parking lot of the shopping center when five plainclothes police detectives arrived and arrested him. They informed him he is arrested for fleeing from an accident.

Acevedo said nothing and walked without resistance detectives car was devoid of any identifying information, and had a New York license plate.

Only a few days ago he told the U.S. media that he is ready to turn himself in.

In recent days, police intensified the search for Acevedo. According to police sources, Acevedo was convicted many years ago with murder and was involved recently in a car accident when he was arrested for drunk driving, was charged and released without bail.

A police spokesman said that the police officials were in touch with Acevedo's friend, Derrick Hamilton, before the arrest.
