The most wanted man in New York is ready to surrender.
Julio Acevedo, 44, resident of Brooklyn, the suspected driver of the BMW car which hit the taxi which drove Nachman and Reizie Gloiber z"l, told U.S. media: "I am ready to turn myself up in."
Acevedo contacted the Daily News through his friend: "I did not know they were dead until I saw the news", he said in that short phone call. "My heart is filled with compassion for the family. I'm ready to turn myself in."
He said in the conversation that he fled a shooting incident which had caused him to drive too fast. "I left the scene, fearing that they still want to shoot me."
Acevedo said that before he turns himself over to the police, he will go to a lawyer.
The phone call came to fruition three days after the fatal accident that occurred in Williamsburg on Motzaei Shabbos. The accident, as stated, claimed the lives of Nachman and Reizi Gloiber z"l and their premature baby born after his mother died, and later died.
In recent days, police intensified the search for Acevedo. According to police sources, Acevedo was convicted many years ago of murder and was involved a short time ago in a car accident when he was arrested for drunk driving, charged and released without bail.
