Political conflict on the draft outline of the yeshiva students causes nerves in the haredi community. That is the only way to explain what took place last night at the Itzkowitz shul in Bnei Brak, when Rabbi David Bloch, founder of Nahal Haredi, came to daven before the Amud, on the anniversary of his father's yahrzeit which falls today.
Rabbi Bloch, who currently serves as a Ra"m at a yeshiva high school - and in the past as head of Medrashia Noam, went to the Amud in one of the rooms, and within minutes a minyan had gathered.
But then there was a turnaround. One of the men hit the stage and announced a surprising announcement: "The person who came to daven at the Amud was interviewed last week in a Mizrachi paper and he stated there that he is in favor of recruiting the yeshiva students. It is forbidden to pray with this man - and certainly not to be used as a shaliach zibbur."
At first Rabbi Bloch was silent and swallowed the insult. But then decided to respond briefly: "It's just a lie."
Despite his humiliation, Rabbi Bloch began davening. But after a minute, when he turned around, he realized that he was left without a minyan to pray.
Immediately after the prayer, two people approached Rabbi Bloch and asked his blessing. "We appreciate the privilege you bought in Heaven for not entering into an argument with that man and you kept quiet, despite the fact that he humiliated you.
The background to the event is an interview Rabbi Bloch gave the 'Besheva' newspaper last week. The daverner claimed that Rabbi Bloch said in the interview that one needs to recruit yeshiva students to the IDF, but the things written are completely different: "Gradually it became idealized not join the army at all," said Rabbi Bloch in his interview. "Even boys, who do not learn and do not contribute their Torah study for Am Yisrael, don’t see any interest to serve. For that they can recruit all the excuses in the world."
"The state must recruit those who pursue the Yeshivas"
In a conversation with a B'Chadrei Charedim reporter Rabbi Bloch strengthens his position: "I learned from my Rosh Yeshiva that the state should recruit those who persecute the Yeshivas, those boys who are working - and Torah is not their craft. Here they managed persecution, and now they want to harm even those who actually sit and learn. If those not learning would have recruited – the Torah world would not be in danger. "
Rabbi Bloch is not afraid to voice his opinions even before the Haredi sector. In recent days his lecture engaged on the question "What is the orthodox method?" – To hit among many across the country and amongst those surfing the web. "I am pleased to have been humiliated, especially when it is inherently false."
Rabbi Bloch wishes to take the stage to clarify the interpretation given which was incorrect, staged during his interview in question.
Bloch was quoted as saying in an interview that he seemingly regretted having sent boys from the midrasha to Orthodox yeshivas. "The intention was that I should not have to act against the parents and convince their children to learn in yeshivas," he says, "although the parents did not agree, as the Yeshiva like the Merkaz Harav was founded, and more, considered good in the national religious public."
