For the visit of Obama - Israel is considering gesture measures to the Palestinian Authority. According to the newspaper Ma'ariv, this morning (Tuesday) this is a gesture already discussed in the past, but Netanyahu then refused to the offers.
Between gestures: the transfer of land from Area C in Judea and Samaria (which is now under full Israeli control) to A.
Furthermore there is a ten point plan for Palestinian community settlement in that area. These neighborhoods are now considered illegal and the host manager also ordered the demolition of the houses already built. Even the release of prisoners on the agenda, from the opening prisoners arrested before the Oslo Accords and the transfer of additional light ammunition to the Authority's security forces.
Although the White House has not announced a formal plan that Obama is about to announce during his visit to the Middle East and Israel, the World Tribune reports that Obama requires precise schedule for Israeli withdrawal from Judea and Samaria and seeks to establish a Palestinian state already next year. If the report is true, this change in U.S. policy is in favor of the Palestinians.
Secretary of State finishes these days in the Middle East in preparation for the visit of the President. During his visit to Saudi Arabia Abbas was invited to meet him. The U.S. State Department announced that the Secretary will meet with Mahmoud Abbas, the head of the negotiating team of the Authority Saeb Akirat and other Palestinian officials.
