"It was an indescribable scene, the hardest in my life," said the Hatzala man who handled the couple killed in Williamsburg.

The testimony of Hatzala drive in Wiliamsburg, A.S. who was the first on the scene of the fatal accident, reached Behadrey Haredim. The drive is still in shock in face of the difficult scenes he witnessed during the rescue efforts:

"I was sitting as usual in the Beis Midrash last Saturday night, after we finished Melave Malka. Suddenly I got on my pager device a routine report on an accident that occurred on Kennet street corner Wilsan. I immediately jumped into my car, turned on the sirens alarm and sped to the scene of the accident. Behind me I already noticed a fire truck fire which followed me, also to the destination in question while its sirens cried out loud.

"When I arrived on the scene, I was horrified to see that the car was completely crushed. When I neared the scene, someone yelled," the victim is not Jewish." He thought to stop me from seeking to submit medical assistance. However, as an officer of saving lives, we do not distinguish between blood and blood, and the religion, race and gender of the person, are not relevant when you need to save. I went up to the driver, and indeed I noticed that he was lightly wounded, thanks to air bags which opened with the collision. He was basically a shock casualty and I gave him first aid. I thought naively that he was the only casualty in this case and already I was relieved when I realized that the effect was minimal.

"However, the realization arrived when the fire department sawed the vehicle and I noticed Avrech lying motionless and unconscious. I immediately alerted by radio more help, and volunteers of Hatzala rushed to the place. We began attempting CPR, we gave him electric shocks, but, to our great dismay, the resuscitation did not work and his death was determined on the spot.

"At some point, suddenly one of our volunteers exclaimed. He turned our attention to a woman under the wheels of a parked truck. We jumped at her and pulled her out. She was still alive in those moments.

"We immediately started efforts at resuscitation, and put her into the Hatzala van to rush her to the hospital in Manhattan. Only during the trip, we noticed that it is actually a pregnant woman. Later we found out that she was indeed on her way to the hospital, because of the contractions she had. We knew that every minute is critical to the fetus. The crew immediately started a process of delivery, to separate the fetus from the mother. Miraculously the mission succeeded and with the grace of Heaven the baby girl who was born premature, came into the world without injury. However, to our great dismay, a few minutes before we got to the hospital, the woman passed away and returned her soul to her Creator.

"This is a harsh and terrifying scene which is indescribable. I've never encountered a similar shocking case. It's hard to think of an orphan that comes into the world without a father or mother."

According to police the driver of the vehicle was drunk. She fled the scene and has not yet been identified.
