xchange of accusations between Washington and Jerusalem, "Netanyahu has consistently supported the ceasefire and asked for help with it," Foreign Minister of the United States, John Kerry declared today (Tuesday), at a joint news conference with Ukrainian counterpart, Pavlo Klimkin.
"Netanyahu called me and suggested the cease-fire," said Kerry during a press conference, "I spoke with Prime Minister Netanyahu several times yesterday, as I spoke to him in recent days. We act wisely with the Israelis to find a way to avoid killing civilians and prevent the escalation of both parties". Kerry reiterated that it was Netanyahu who wanted to reach a ceasefire that would allow Israel to act against the threat of tunnels.
Kerry even went on to explain that he is a true friend of Israel, and for all his years in the Senate he voted in favor of all votes Israeli position.
But the Prime Minister's Office denied Kerry's words: "The request for a ceasefire increased primarily from the direction of Kerry. Diplomatic sources clarified in Jerusalem," Netanyahu said that Israel must first complete the task handling the tunnels."
