The dilemma of cancellation of Bein hazmanim during the month of Av in the yeshivas: R' Aharon Leib Steinman spoke last night (Tuesday) with his talmid Hagaon Rabbi Moshe Yehudah Schneider "One needs great mercy."

Rabbi Schneider testifies: "At some point, during the conversation about the situation, I saw how Rabeinu starts to cry with grief. Rabeinu takes much interest at all times about the situation of our brethren in Israel, worries about them until they are no longer in danger, and prays and evokes the mercy of Heaven at all times."

During the conversation the question came up to Hagaon Rabbi Aharon Leib, when all of Israel is in a difficult situation like this, one should go out on bein hazmanim? Even children of Talmudei Torah who are used in many institutions to go out for a day trip, R' Aharon Leib instructed to avoid traveling.

It is worth noting the words of a talmid of Maran Harav Elyashiv zt"l, Hagaon Rabbi Ben Zion Kook, in a chizuk rally held on Sunday at the hall of Maor Chayim yeshiva in Jerusalem, marking two years after the demise of Harav Elyashiv and in light of the difficult situation.

Among other things, Hagaon R' Ben Zion Kook related: "During the Second Lebanon War, I came with Roshei Yeshiva to discuss with Maran Harav Elyashiv regarding going out on bein hazmanim. Some said to the Rav zt"l that there are boys who can not give up the trips of bein hazmanim. Rabeinu responded and said: 'I think that all those who want to take trips, tell them they should walk around a hospital first, and see the wounded…"
