The new chairman of the Yeshiva Board: Hgrch"a Kaufman

After repeated delays - since the passing of Hgr"a Tenenbaum zt"l, a meeting convened to appoint the new Yeshiva Board chairman. The rabbis came to the house of Hgray"l Steinman, at the request Hgr"n Karelitz, and appointed Rabbi Chaim Aaron Kaufman, son in law of Rabbi Tenenbaum, for the role.

To the house of Hgray"l came HaGaon Vosner, Hgr"n Karelitz, Hgri"g Edelstein, HaGaon Alter, HaGaon Cohen and Reb Moshe Ernster.

Besides Rabbi Kaufman's being the eldest son in law of the previous chairman, he won the support of his mother in law - wife of Rabbi Tenenbaum zt"l, and was also credited to the fact that he filled the role during his father in law's lifetime, so that he has the necessary experience.

However, and despite the gathering held at Chazon Ish 5, household members of Hgray"l repeat that they have no interest in the matter, and that Hgr"n Karelitz and HaGaon Vosner decided, as the actual superiors of the committee management.

Previously the Yeshiva Board transferred the donations from abroad to the Yeshivas, because it was the only one standing in the criteria of Article 46 - allowing illegal contributions from tax deduction. But today the section in question is known to all yeshivas and even a small organization, and allows it to accept donations directly according to law.

As a result, the board has almost no economic significance, and even printing of Talmuds or organization vacationers are no longer in their role. Also accumulated fund money has been wasted in the board for various purposes, and today the figure is almost meaningless. Particularly after the military exemption issue - The last issue is controlled by the committee - passed, with the final abolition of the Tal Law.

However, this is a valuable body mainly because of the name and representational role it plays.
