El Al plane – and on board 25 Haredi passengers on a flight from Frankfurt, is due to land at 19:05 at Ben Gurion Airport - about 20 minutes before Shabbos.

Passenger plane was supposed to land in Israel at 16:00 or so, but following a delay of about 3 hours in takeoff, the flight left with a significant delay.

Families of passengers turned to ZAKA to assist passengers to make Shabbos at Ben Gurion Airport.

Operations Division Commander of ZAKA, Chaim Weingarten, tells Behadrey Haredim that volunteers from Bnei Brak began to round the prepared-food stores, to arrange food for passengers, "that for some reason chose to get on the flight was supposed to land after Shabbos comes in".

However, during the rounds, the arrival time, initially set to -19:45 – was brought forward to 19:05, 20 minutes before Shabbos. Consequently the food collecting was stopped and a number of ZAKA volunteers got organized to collect the passengers with the landing, and to assist them to Kfar Chabad or Bnei Brak, depending on the time at their disposal.

ZAKA is used to such requests, but together with the help, criticize those flying. "It was predicted that the plane will land in Israel after Shabbos comes in, why does a Jew who keeps Shabbos' honor go onto a flight knowing it will land after sunset?" says Weingarten painfully. "It would have been better to forgo the flight following the delay and return to Israel on Sunday."
