Shooting incident at the Western Wall: a civilian security guard shot this morning (Friday) a Jew who shouted "Allah Akbar" and tried to get something out of his pocket, while in the bathrooms at the Western Wall in the Old City, according to the police report.
Paramedics of Magen David Adom and drives of Ichud Hatzala attempted to perform CPR on the man, Doron Ben Shlush, 46, critically injured, but to no avail, and finally had to confirm his death.
This is a French Jew who was a frequent visitor at the Chabad organization's soup kitchen, located near the Western Wall plaza. On of his acquaintances said in a conversation with Behadrey Haredim that the deceased was a known personality to the police, and that he was under a restraining order from the vicinity of the Western Wall, which expired a week ago.
An initial police investigation revealed that the security guard apparently fired ten bullets at the man at close range.
The guard was taken for questioning and at this stage it is not possible to determine whether he followed the procedures.
Witnesses said: "Suddenly we heard shots which came from the bathroom area. Something like ten bullets. We lay down on the floor."
According to the police, apparently he was eccentric. Forensics teams and Zaka are on the scene.
Zeevi Chefetz, Jerusalem MDA paramedic told Behadrey Haredim: "When we reached the scene we found a man shot in his body, without a pulse or breath, we could only determine his death."
David Leff, volunteer of Union Hatzala said: "I was with my family at the Wall at a Bar Mitzvah and Tefillin laying. Suddenly we heard gunshots, I rushed to the scene and began CPR procedures while other paramedics of a Union Hatzala unit joined, unfortunately he was pronounced dead on the scene, police are examining the circumstances."
