Religious Zionist rabbis are joining the struggle of the ultra-Orthodox rabbis and Torah scholars: In a letter published today (Sunday) and signed by the sector rabbis, rabbis warn against harm to the yeshivas, and reportedly criticized the people of Habayit Hayehudi.

Following the imposition of sanctions on Torah scholars as is being planned by the Perry Committee, the Zionist yeshivas will also be limited for which it was determined that they should not accept more than 300 boys in each cohort.

The letter, signed by more than 60 senior religious Zionist rabbis – Roshei Yeshivas, municipal rabbis, judges and kollelim, the rabbis express great concern "of danger of severe damage to those who study Torah and its various institutions from various classes and types."

Among the prominent names are included Rabbi Dov Lior, the rabbi of Hebron, Rabbi Yehoshua Shapira, head of Yeshivat Ramat Gan, David Dudkavich, the rabbi of Yitzhar, Rabbi Mordechai Nagar Rabbi of Ma'ale Adumim, Har Hamor yeshiva head, Rabbi Yeshayahu Meitlis, Rabbi of Nahariya, and Rabbi Michael Levi, the rabbi of Petah Tikva.

The letter opens: "G-d didn’t make a covenant with Israel, but to the Torah," he expresses implied but clear criticism to the members of the Knesset of Habayit Hayehudi. "In recent weeks we expected that things related to treatment Torah institutions and those who study in principle and practical expression of this will be settled properly, but unfortunately we learned that it was far from being solved and there is danger to the world and Torah learners," the rabbis wrote.

During the rabbis signing the letter, its existence reached the ears of Habayit Hayehudi MKs who felt pressure and discomfort of the criticism directed towards them. Some even turned through informal channels to organizers of the letter, and gave assurances whereby they undertake to mobilize to save the world of Torah.

The letter, according to Orthodox factors, may allow cooperation between parts in Habayit Hayehudi, and the ultra-Orthodox parties.
