Owl secret • mystery that stirs Bayit Vegan

Last Wednesday morning, an owl landed on the luchas above the Ark of the Hgr"a synagogue, in Bayit Vegan in Jerusalem.

Members and students of the Beit Midrash called the municipality of Jerusalem, they sent workers try to remove the owl - but without success. Employees agreed with the members that since the owl is nocturnal bird, it is best to wait for the night, and then let him leave the Beit Midrash.

But the owl behaved differently. At night he found rest in the women's synagogue, where he settled on the sefer Taharas Bas Yisrael - and yeshiva students were puzzled.

Rabbi of the Beit Midrash, Rabbi Yeshayahu Rothenberg who was asked about this - did not know what to answer.

Recall, a little before this took place Rabbi Yehoshua Neuwirth zt"l one of the neighborhood Rabbis, who gave many shiurim in halacha, passed away.

One of the members rushed to calculate the gematria which is fascinating: (ינשוף) owl = 446 death (מות) = 446

ו and פ – gematria 86 (Hgry"y zt"l passed away at age 86. The member of the shul also noted that the owl perched himself on the luchos above the words Zachor et HaShabbos', and as known Hgry"y zt"l gave shiurim on Halachos of Shabbos in shul. In his opinion, the presence of the owl and its signs come to strengthen Shmiras Shabbos, which may loosen now with the passing of Hgry"y zt"l.

One of the shul members told a B'Chadrei Charedim reporter: "We do not know anything and don’t get involved in kabbalah and hataras nedarim. We know what it says in the gemara-maseches chulin, that the owl is the most repulsive amongst the birds."
