Florida: prisoner requires to be circumcised

Manuel Pablo Diaz is a 37 years old life prisoner, requiring the management of the prison in Florida to allow him to be circumcised according to Jewish law.

Pablo also turned to Brit Yosef Yitzchak, specializing in the preparation of adult circumcisions; the organization in turn gave his consent to carry out the procedure in prison.

Diaz was born to a Jewish mother in Cuba, but had never been circumcised. In the past, Pablo approached the prison and asked to be circumcised - but received no confirmation. Pablo recently turned to a law student named Paul Harold Stanford from University in California, and asked him to represent him in front of the prison. Harold made the request, as he explains it is the right of every Jew to be circumcised by federal law. Diaz should receive the answer by the end of June.

According to Harold, he believes that the prison authorities in Florida are not aware of the importance of ritual circumcision for Jews. He is convinced that in the end they will answer yes to the request of Diaz.

It should be noted that recently the jail authorities in Florida lost the case directed against them by a Jewish inmate who demanded supply of kosher food.
