MK Orit Sitruk comes to light: in an interview with the newspaper Ma'ariv, to be published at the end of the week and parts of which are published this morning (Wednesday), she expresses herself in a variety of areas. Among other things, criticizing party chairman Naftali Bennett, Minister of Economy.

"There is a large public in the religious Zionism which is accustomed to adhere to rabbis, this public saw Naftali Bennett and other members of the party being photographed with Rabbi Druckman for the election campaign and understood, perhaps naively, that the meaning is that Naftali Bennett will take into account the opinion of the Rav in religious matters."

These things come against the background of internal strife in the Religious - National party around the issue of the Chief Rabbi. Some Knesset members from the party, including Sitruk, preferred that the 'Jewish Home' will support the candidacy of Hagr"y Ariel to Ashkenazi chief rabbi, but in the secret ballot that was held, it was decided to support the candidacy of Rabbi David Stav. Rabbi Haim Druckman, senior rabbi of religious Zionism, preferred Hagr"y Ariel too.

In response to the question whether Bennett tried to conceal her during the election campaign, in order to paint the party as more 'moderate', Sitruk replied, "it did not help him as much as he tried, the Likud's campaign jumped in front of him poof, poof, poof."
Sitruk explained in an interview that anyone who saw the characters vying for her party understood in advance that these are religious leaders who are used to consult with rabbis, like those who voted for Yishai and Deri and knew they abide by the decisions of Harav Ovadia Yosef. Nevertheless, she says, there is a difference: "In the Jewish Home they are not subject to rabbis in issues of the state budget, general bills or going to war, rather in significant rabbinical matters. Choosing a chief rabbi is a clearly rabbinical issue. "

Sitruk quoted MK Ayelet Shaked and said: "We consult with rabbis and Tzipi Livni consults with criminals."
