Everyone wants to be close: the house located near the Chabad global center 770 turned into sought after in real estate in New York and its price soared steadily.
Since the house was put on sale, there was a struggle to purchase it between Chabad hassidim and the 'Meshichists'. The truggle came to an end this week when a donor acquired the house for three million dollars for the Meshihistim.
760 Eastern Parkway - this is the exact address of the house which is 100 years old, within seconds of walking from the address actually requested by the purchasers. The price of the house for sale rose steadily until the beginning of the week when it was estimated at one million and a half dollars. It is estimated that the house was sold for almost double this amount.
A real estate agent said this week that she received inquiries from all over the world. "70 percent of those interested are religious," said Shoshana Tal, a real estate agency who handled the sale of the house, "the common denominator to all is that they feel a special connection to the Rebbe and want to be the happy owners of this unique property".
The house occupies 550 sq. meters and has 8 rooms. It was occupied by the famous chossid Rabbi Meir Itkin z"l, who passed away at the age of 96.
