The haredi protest against Women of the Wall: Gedolei Yisroel confirmed last night (Tuesday) the initiative of activists to hold a protest rally against Women of the Wall, on Sunday.

After embarrassing incidents which occurred at the demonstration of seminary girls held last month, it was decided this time to avoid a women's protest, and instead call avreichim and adults only, without girls, yeshiva boys and children.

One of the initiators of the protest, a Jerusalem activist, says in a conversation with Behadrey Haredim that under the provisions of Gedolei Yisroel, the rally is for avreichim only, "In order to avoid incidents that occurred last time."

"The goal is that thousands of avreichim will participate in the prayer to prove that we are different from those women and our aim is to pray."

This evening, Deputy Mayor of Jerusalem, Yitzchak Pindrus, came to R' Aharon Leib Steinman's residence in Bnei Brak and received his approval for the rally.

So too the Western Wall Rabbi Shmuel Rabinovitch visited in the Gerrer Rebbe, the Belzer Rebbe, Hgr"s Auerbach and others and heard them on the need to hold a prayer rally while striving to avoid incidents of violence.

Deputy Mayor of Jerusalem, Yossi Deitch entered this week to the Erloy Rebbe who welcomed the initiative. Hagaon R' Ovadia Yosef was also updated and blessed it.

Jerusalem Police is preparing for the rally on Sunday for fear of confrontations, especially in light of the escalation earlier this week when a threatening letter was sent to the chief rabbis.

Western Wall Rabbi, Harav Shmuel Rabinowitz also received similar threats, and in recent days a security guard has been attached to him.

Meanwhile, towards Rosh Chodesh Tammuz on which "Women of the Wall" are expected to arrive at the Western Wall, the Chief Rabbinate publishes its decision: "As long as the rabbinate has not given its decision in this matter one should not change from what has been in the past, and the Western Wall must be treated with the sanctity of a synagogue".

The Council also states that it "rejects any act of provocation and violent behavior on either side, and calls the sides to show restraint until the decision on Wednesday in order to allow a substantive discussion."
