Moshes Scharf z"l
Tragedy in Bnei Brak: Moshe Scharf z"l, Chernobyl Yeshiva student, aged 20, was found in his bed before noon, when lifeless.
The deceased z"l, resident of Antwerp, Belgium who studied at the local yeshiva on Havakuk street, went out last night with his father Aharon for final arrangements, prior to his elder brother's wedding, scheduled for tonight at the Tamar halls in Bnei Brak. He returned to the yeshiva at 2:00am - and went to sleep.
In the morning, his roommate tried to wake him, but without success - and continued on his way. At about 11 o'clock the mashgiach of the yeshiva went into the room to wake him up. When he entered, he noticed that something was amiss - and alerted the rescue forces.
Rescue personnel who arrived at the scene could only pronounce the death.
"The father Aharon Scharf, Hatzala paramedic in Antwerp, came to the yeshiva to find his son, and saw the rescue forces on the scene," says one of those present. "He asked: What happened? - When they told him that his son was not feeling well, he could not stop himself and burst into the room. He said he is a paramedic and one doesn't have to hide anything from him."
Family members, Pshaversk chassidim, set the date for their son's wedding, before the Rebbe of Pshaversk arranged for the marriage of his son - for tonight. "Finally the Admor set the wedding date for that day," says a family friend. "The family members wanted to postpone their wedding , but the Rebbe determined that one does not postpone weddings. "
Zeevi Tepper, Ichud Hatzala paramedic, said: "This is a very unfortunate event. The bochur is a brother of a chosson who is supposed to get married tonight. When I arrived, unfortunately I had no choice but to wait for the doctor to determine his death. The background is being investigated. ZAKA team was called to take care of his body. Family members who are now in the country due to the Simcha of the wedding which was expected for this evening, came after being updated ".
Shimon Ettinger, paramedic at Hatzala Gush Dan, said: "When we arrived we found the boy, about 20 years old, lifeless. He had died some hours before, and there was no reason to start resuscitation."
In a consultation held by the Rebbe of Pashversk with Hgr"s Vosner as to what should be done, Hgr"s instructed to postpone the wedding until after the Shiva.
The police released his body for burial, after an officer on the scene demanded to remove the body to the Forensic Institute to inspect it. Coordinator of the legal department of ZAKA, Michael Gutwein, overturned the decision in concert with Dan Albert Ohayon.
The funeral will leave at 14:30 from Chernobyl yeshiva in Bnei Brak, and at 16:00 from Shamgar to Har Hamenuchos.
