Harav Ovadia Yosef fell and injured in his home • taken to the hospital in mild condition • will be released in the morning

Head of Shas's Council of Torah Sages, Harav Ovadia Yosef, fainted at home and was mildly injured • pain • After consultation with doctors was evacuated for tests at the Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital • Spokesman: "there was no cause for the fainting spell, and there was no injury as a result of his fall" • Aryeh Deri: "The Rabbi will be released in the morning and I thank all praying for him"

Harav Ovadia Yosef fell and injured in his home • taken to the hospital in mild condition • will be released in the morning

President of the Council of Sages of the Shas, Harav Ovadia Yosef, fainted last night at around 19:45. He fell and injured his lower torso.

Harav Ovadia fainted on his way to the shul next door. He suffered from severe pain, but returned to full consciousness.

Hatzalah volunteers and MDA team was called to his house, gave him medical treatment and was diagnosed only with dry bruising. Because of his age, and to make sure that the condition is not benign, after consult with his doctor – was taken to Hadassah Ein Kerem hospital for tests.

At the hospital the Rabbi underwent tests and X-Rays.

Spokesman at Hadassah Ein Kerem said: "Rabbi's condition is defined mild. The cause for the fainting spell was not found, and there was no injury as a result of his fall. The Rabbi will remain in the hospital for observation."

Shas leaders, including party chairman MK Aryeh Deri, MK Ariel Atias and MK Eli Yishai visited the rabbi's room, spoke to his doctor and monitored his condition.

Shas leader Aryeh Deri, issued a statement on Facebook: "I came out of the room of Rabbi Ovadia Yosef now, Rabbi spoke to me and asked to thank all those praying for him.

"The Rabbi feels good, fully conscious. He will remain in the hospital overnight for observation and will be released in the morning. Along with all of Israel, I pray that he will continue to lead us with good health for many more years. Pray for continued health."
