Nine year old drowned in Chafetz Chaim • hospitalized in serious and unstable condition

Disaster at the pool: At the Water Park in Kibbutz Chafetz Chaim, a boy of about nine from a haredi family, resident of Beer Sheva, drowned in the the pool - and lost consciousness.

The boy, who arrived with his brother in the Talmud Torah in which he learns, drowned for a short period of time - and recovered from the water.

Volunteer medics of Ichud Hatzala South, performed CPR on him, and he was taken after successful resuscitation, in a very difficult situation when he sedated and on a respirator, to the emergency room at Kaplan hospital in Rehovot.

Kelly Perez, paramedic of MDA: "We found in the pool area dozens of children who came for a fun day and on the verge of the pool a boy of about nine unconscious, without a pulse and not breathing, having been dredged from the water by a lifeguard. Drives of MDA began resuscitation and we continued medical care and advanced resuscitation including medication, until the pulse returned. Later we transferred him to intensive care ambulance and evacuated him, while resuscitating, to Kaplan hospital. At the moment the child is in critical condition, unconscious, with a pulse."

Spokesman of Ichud Hatzalah said: "The boy was pulled from the water by a volunteer of Ichud Hatzala who was nearby. The volunteer began resuscitation while other medics who joined him. After successful resuscitation the boy was taken to the hospital in serious condition."
The child was transferred to emergency room intensive care unit at Kaplan Hospital, where he is treated while being anesthetized and ventilated, and is in serious and unstable condition.

In recent years there have been a number of disasters at Chafetz Chaim, including many cases of drowning relative to other pools.

Following the drowning case, the owner is being questioned, as well as the group escort and two life guards. Police ordered to close the pool today, and later it will be decided about the activity at the pool in the next few days.
