Orthodox mother from Ofakim: "My son was not accepted into pres-school because his father is serving in the IDF"

The son was not accepted to pre-school because "the father is serving in the army": a Haredi woman from Ofakim claims that she was dismissed when she asked to register her son to a Haredi kindergarten, after the institution manager discovered her husband is serving in the IDF, reveals that Channel 2.

The woman passed all kindergarten registration procedures for the Sephardic pre-school until they discovered that her husband is in the military.

According to her, the director told her firmly what he thought of parents who educate their children to join the army. "You see, you are not unacceptable to me and neither is your husband, you are righteous people, but I cannot have your son come with terms related to the army which he hears at home," he said in a conversation held with her, and documented. "It will also interfere with your son learning Torah, because the father is in the military and has no time to help him learn.

"I hope that your son will not learn from his father, and will not go to the army," the manager added. "His life should be a life of Torah study and he should be a Torah and yeshiva student."

The mother asked him: "What if he does want to go to the army?" And director of the Institute said: "This is bad. Your son should be a yeshiva student. It would be terrible if when your son grows up he will go to work." She says she wants to allow her son the freedom of choice and not force him whether to join the army or learn.

The mother said she was outraged by the decision and protested to the director of the institution of the decision and immediately retracted and justified that refusal of the child is due to some other reason and that is since the family have a computer in the parent's room.

"You have a computer at home, iPhone and immodest things," said the director to the mother. "Your son will touch it and have an effect on the children in the class. You are like someone who kills his father and his mother, then cries and tells the judges:" Have mercy on me, I'm an orphan. The goal is that the computer will be thrown out and your husband will learn."

But the mother is continuing to argue that the decision was taken because her husband was drafted and the computer is an excuse". A conversation held between the director of the institute and channel 2, it sounds completely different. He said he does not "have anything against those who serve in the army, and he will gladly accept the child to the institution, if the family will follow the general terms."

Meanwhile the mother already registered the child to a different orthodox institution - where they accepted him with open arms.
