In light of the recruitment debate • Nahal Haredi battalion was inaugurated

Nahal Haredi Battalion was inaugurated today (Sunday), at Givat Tachmoshet in Jerusalem. At the scene appeared rabbis and public figures as well as ultra-Orthodox group who supported the soldiers.

Deputy Minister of Religious Services, Rabbi Eli Ben-Dahan, said that, "as a rabbi and as an officer in the reserves, I welcome the soldiers on their arrival to this status. Every single one of them, decided to enlist in order to protect Israel.

"The Rambam states that Mitzvah war is to redeem Israel from constrict, anyone who gives his defense of the settlements in the confrontation lines obeys the commandments of the Torah."

Concerning the Perry outline he said: "We will not agree to the Perry outline as it is. It has good parts and the less good, such as the imposition of criminal charges and we will change them."

The deputy minister concluded and said: "Am Yisrael is behind the soldiers, and supports them. I believe that encouraging the ultra-Orthodox to join the army, is by way of dialogue. I am happy I merited and I hope that with Hashem's help we will merit to many more inaugurations."
