Elad residents react: "Eidan defiled the name of G-d, there is a law and a judge"

Arrest of Mayor Yitzhak Eidan, who has serious suspicions against him of bribery, fraud and breach of trust, planning and building violations, money laundering and more, causes harsh feelings amongst the residents.
At the same time of extending of the detention of Eidan and the real estate developer, Motti Cohen, continued yesterday and today (Monday) a parade of investigations into the case. B'Chadrei Charedim learned that associates of Eidan, people allegedly involved in the investigation and more – are being interrogated one by one by the Israel Police National Fraud.
Height of the investigations parade - the wife of the mayor, Marcel Eidan was also investigated, it was also reported that the Rosh Kollel sought by the police who turned himself in for questioning - was released at the end. One resident describes the situation to B'Chadrei Charedim: "This is a city of crime? Arrests are being held here, officials investigated, where are we? This is a terrible blasphemy."
There are harsh feelings amongst most residents. "The mayor's arrest did not surprise me," says Avi K. living in Elad for 10 years in a conversation with B'Chadrei Charedim, "everyone knew that there is corruption at the municipality. The city has deteriorated in recent years. We hear all the time about problems with the CEO, the engineer being replaced every Monday and Thursday. It has been indicative of something wrong happening in the room.
"Eidan received a chance and did not prove himself and certainly it is not pleasant. The situation is neither easy nor simple but when I look as a resident at the mayor he should pay the price for what he did - if he did. The town retreated 20 years back because of him."
Even Yitzhak Deri, a teacher and living in the city for 13 years was not surprised, "there were always rumors and talk. Everyone knew it would happen one day. I'm very sorry about what happened that it also created defamation of G-d. I as a resident of the city would not vote for him again. On the other hand I'm not happy to see his fall. "
Eli Adler, who lives 10 years in Elad, engaged in education and focuses on recent activity in the Orthodox Jewish community workers, "since the departure of Zvika Cohen I'm walking around with a full stomach," he says to B'Chadrei Charedim."A seed planted on the injustice of a man will not grow successful fruit. There is a lawyer and a judge. From the first moment we saw Eidan is not fit for the job, he cannot run a city and even a kiosk he can't run.
"Everyone talked about investigation starting from the story with CEO Guetta but still you cannot judge if it is corrupt. We are not investigators at the police and we can only hope that the man will leave us and let us choose a person from the city who grew up here and cares about the residents and the city in general. "
Another resident, who preferred to remain anonymous, said: "It is difficult to judge at this stage. We believe the innocence of Eidan."
