New York: The funeral for the Sifrei Torah and mezuzot and construction of 40 monuments

Crowds are expected to arrive this morning (Sunday) at 9 (U.S. time) to 782 Empire Street Synagogue in Far Rockaway, where the funeral of Sandy storm damaged Torah scrolls in synagogues in neighborhoods of Seagate, Belle Harbor, Far Rockaway and more will be held.

Funeral to be held in the plaza of the Midrash, the rabbis of damaged synagogues will speak.

The highlight will be in Albany at 2 pm at the cemetery of the Organization of Chesed Shel Emes, where Sifrei Torah will be buried alongside 11 desecrated mezuzahs a few weeks ago, in a multi-storey building in Williamsburg. Then there will be the establishment of monuments of 40 graves of mitzvah deaths who passed away in recent months and were buried in the cemetery of the Organization of Chesed Shel Emes.

According to U.S. law it is prohibited to bury archives without special permission. Tens of tons of archives collected after storm Sandy expect burial. Organization of Chesed Shel Emes bought a few years ago the cemetery in Albany - where they bury mitzvah deaths and Sifrei Torah.
