Talk of the day in Satmar: businessman Shlomo Moshe Klegsbreun resident of Kiryat Yoel in Monroe made a contribution of one million dollars, for the construction of the new girl's seminary in Bnei Brak.
It has recently been published in B'Chadrei Charedim that the area in Bnei Brak, called Ponovicz Forest, was sold to Satmar leaders for $ 10 million, and revenues, according to rumors, are intended for the benefit of Ponovicz Yeshiva. Following Shavuot, the final deal was closed.
The area which is located on the Admor of Gur, is private property that belonged to Rabbi Avraham Kahanman zt"l and he bequeathed it to his wife the Rebbetzin.
Chassidei Satmar, suffering severe housing crisis, plans to build a dozen apartments in the project, merged with existing housing, alongside a girl's seminary to be built on the complex.
Last Shabbos, Klegsbreun went up to the Torah for Levi, when reading the Torah. When reach mi sheberach, he announced that he contributes one million dollars for the new seminary.
The distinguished contribution was embraced by activists of Satmar Bnei Brak.
The building will include six floors, including classrooms, halls for conferences and more.
This evening it turns out that the complex was transferred to the tycoon Rabbi Englander from London, for alternative areas on Shelah Street, owned by Englander, which the Satmar community management will receive.
Englander negotiated with the Kahneman family to purchase land to build a Machnovka Institutions Center, a chassidus he belongs to. But negotiations could not proceed and things were slow.
Satmar Housing management found interest in the proposed sale and began to negotiate in parallel.
The Kahneman family, which found Satmar a comfortable trade partner, has decided to complete the sale to the community, and community leaders signed a sales contract. It was worth nine million dollars and was finalized two months ago. Community passed the first advances, and business finally began to move.
When Englander learned that the management of Satmar made the purchase of the land on which he was keen, he came to offer its leaders: "Give me the land you purchased, and I'll give you for it, the land I own on the Shelah Street."
Community leaders, examined the proposed alternative, and found that it is more attractive than the Ponovicz Forest, despite the geographical proximity of Ponovicz Forest on Admor of Gur Street, located near the Satmar housing. Grounds to this are a seminary building to be built. Tests conducted by functionaries, it became clear, that On Admore of Gur street, they would not be allowed to build a structure which will exceed three floors while on Shelah Street, the building has broader options and may build a six-story building.
Argument above, in addition to another form of close contacts between Satmar and Englander, led to the conclusion, exchanging land areas.
The tycoon will get the land from Satmar on Rebbe of Gur street, he so longed for, and Satmar receives relatively similar space, on the Shelah, for the residential project which will be built and the seminary building.
Is this the end to this saga? Currently, it seems so.
