Syrian President: "Israel uses the rebels"

Syrian President Bashar Assad, who was interviewed by Argentine newspaper "Clarin," admitted that international intervention in the conflict in his country is a "reasonable possibility, especially after we managed to defeat the armed groups in many parts of Syria."

He said because of that, "these countries sent Israel to strengthen the morale of the terrorists. We expect that the intervention will occur at some point, although that may be limited," he added.

Assad accused Israel of collaborating with the rebels, including the transfer of equipment and intelligence cooperation. According to Assad, "it provides logistical support and guides them to these sites and how to attack."

Assad also hinted in an interview that the rebel operations allowed Israel to carry out air attacks attributed to it. "The rebels attacked a radar station of the Syrian army can detect approaching aircraft, especially from Israel," he said.

Senior Israeli intelligence officials told The Times of London that Israel would prefer that Syrian President Bashar Assad will survive the civil war in Syria on the possible takeover of the rebels to the state. "Better the devil we know than the devil from all corners of the Arab world will take over Syria," the official said.
