The wedding of the bochur Natan Goldblum, grandson of Rabbi Eliezer Berland, leader of Shuvu Banim who is staying in Morocco, with Chaya Gwirtz, daughter of one of the important families in the community, takes place tonight (Thursday) in the North African country, as Behadrey Haredim has learned.
Last Thursday night the wedding was supposed to take place at the banquet hall in Mitzpeh Yericho. According to preliminary planning, the wedding was to take place on Wednesday at the place of residence of the Rav in Morocco. The groom and his family had been residing in the country, and the bride was supposed to take off with her immediate family and arrive in the afternoon. But the flight was canceled at the last minute in view of the insistence of Rebbetzin Tehilla, who asked not to hold the Chupah abroad.
On Erev Shavuos, it was decided to change the plan and hold the Chupah and the wedding in Morocco as soon as possible: the bride, her parents and some of her family flew to Morocco, where they spent the Yomtov together with 300 chassidim who came to spend Shavuos with the rabbi.
The Rav, who is sought for questioning in Israel, celebrated with his followers and his family two days, as is customary abroad, on the grave of Rabbi Amram Ben Diwan in Wazan, Morocco. There is a building in the town with dozens of beds used during the year by Jews who visit the graves of Tzadikim in the area. The place also has a synagogue, mikveh, a kitchen and a large dining room.
Immediately after the end of Yomtov, Harav Berland started giving his chassidim a Shiur. According to the plan, in case there are no last minute changes, immediately following the Yomtov there will be a Chupah and the dinner attended by all residing in the town. The Rav will conduct the Chupah and kidushin, and then there will be a large Seudah for all the Hasidim, who will remain to celebrate until dawn with a local Moroccan orchestra.
On Shabbos the hassidim will celebrate the Sheva Brachos, and then the families will return to Israel. Behadrey Haredim learned that the Gwirtz family, the family of the bride, will celebrate on Tuesday the Simcha of the marriage of their son with the daughter of Rabbi Yaakov Meir Schechter, one of Breslev rabbis.
The Hachnasas Sefer Torah which was planned for Erev Yomtov will probably take place on Saturday night. The Sefer will be entered into the synagogue located near the tomb. The Sefer Torah was donated by a local wealthy Jew who became a fan of Harav Berland.
Meanwhile, Rabbi Berland's associates say that two days before the Yomtov locals of Wazan expressed their will to remove all hassidim from the area, as they claimed there was a breach of the peace and quiet at the place. The night before the Yomtov, one of the household keepers of the compound where Shuvu Banim people are staying had a dream in which Rabbi Amram Ben Diwan appeared to her. She says Rabbi Amram asked quizzically: "until someone comes to me to pray at me, you want to throw them away?" And disappeared.
The day after, the woman told the local managers the story, and they decided to keep the members of Shuvu Banim on the site.
