Ad published in the local Hasidic newspaper this week in Brooklyn, raised a storm in the general press in New York.
The ad was published in the newspaper De Zeitung, which offered a cure for warts, using fresh pigeon blood.
Behind the ad is a Hasidic woman who said that after her daughter suffered from corns, she slaughtered a pigeon and used the blood for healing warts. The woman added to her ad, that the drug "works" only for Jews."Gentiles are not able to take this medicine," she wrote.
"I've posted the ad to help people," she explained. "There was no Orthodox address which could handle the warts which appeared on my daughters hands."
The ad caused a fury. Organizations against animal abuse claimed, that pigeon bloodletting involves animal abuse. They said, "You can avoid the wart by standard medical treatment."
