Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky inquired: "What happened to Rabbi Berland?"

A follower of the Shuvu Banim congregation came this week to the home of Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky in Bnei Brak.

The avrech who has a family, went in during reception hours to receive a blessing on a personal matter. When his turn came, he told Reb Chaim about the problems facing him and his family - and asked for a blessing.

Hgr"ch blessed briefly as usual: "Blessings and success."

Immediately thereafter the avrech submitted a Kvitel, in which appeared full names of his family. He asked Hgr"ch to pray for their success and health.

Among the names appeared the name of Eliezer Ben Attia, the name of Rabbi Eliezer Berland, who is wanted for questioning in Israel.

Hgr"ch saw the note and asked the avrech: "What happened to Rabbi Berland?"

The avrech replied, "The Rabbi is in exile. All kinds of terrible rumors have been spread and he must pray for his return to Israel soon."

Hgr"ch took an interest by one of his gabboim standing in the room, why he wasn’t told about the sequence of events, and blessed the avrech again.
