"Construction freeze in Jerusalem, no matter who Minister of Housing is"

The Economic Committee headed by MK Avishay Braverman of Labor, held a meeting today (Tuesday) at noon, marking Jerusalem Day which will fall tomorrow. The special session was attended by Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat, and Minister of Housing and Construction Uri Ariel.

At the meeting the marketing of land and housing in Jerusalem and the development of transportation plans at the entrance to the capital, were discussed.

Housing Minister Uri Ariel (Jewish Home) said: "From Saturday night the law recognizing Jerusalem as a national priority will come into force. Law will provide a grant of 100,000 shekels to those entitled by the Ministry of Housing.

"We are ready to sell today, not tomorrow, 2,500 housing units. The prevention does not stem from a problem at the Ministry of Housing and Construction."

The one who discovered the reason why - was the former Housing Minister MK Ariel Atias, who said: "There is a construction freeze in Jerusalem by definition. This is a sweeping directive of the Prime Minister, and it does not matter who is the Minister of Housing is."
