Syrian television reports tonight (Saturday night) on the line of explosions that shook the city of Damascus in Syria.
According to the report, the cause is air bombings of the Israeli Air Force. It was also reported that a military research center located on the outskirts of Mount Kasion in Damascus was hit during the bombing.
Watch: fireball over Damascus
According to foreign reports, the site is the same site that was attacked by the Israeli Air Force three months ago on 19th Shvat, when the air force bombed a convoy bringing advanced anti-aircraft missiles made in Russia, Model sa-17, while it was parked in the Sciences Research Center, in a suburb of Jamaria in Damascus, before crossing the border into Lebanon.
A Damascus resident said tonight to correspondent of Al Jazeera network that the bombings' noise was "unprecedented" and that anyone in the vicinity felt like "in an earthquake". In addition, several witnesses said they saw planes circling over the city near the explosion.
However, is not yet known for sure if these are guided missiles or bombs from the air, according to the report on Syrian TV "there was an attack by Israeli missiles", however, reports from Damascus indicate that a series of military sites, weapons stores and missiles other than the research institute were hit. The al- Arabiya network reported that explosions were also heard in the Fourth Division's headquarters in Damascus.
Second Network's reporter Mickey Gordos reported that the Russian television claims that the Israeli attack in Syria killed 300 Assad's army soldiers and hundreds were injured.
IDF spokesman told Reuters: "We do not respond to this kind of reporting." U.S. State Department and the Israeli Embassy in Washington did not respond to the event.
"The new Israeli attack is an attempt to raise the morale of terrorist groups who suffer from the bombings of our noble army," said the Syrian television broadcasts, referring to attacks committed by the army loyal to President Bashar Assad against opposition members in the state.
Luay Al - Maqdad, advocacy coordinator of the Free Syrian Army, told the Al - Arabiya from Istanbul that the information carried by the Israeli attack comes from Syrian airspace in six different locations. Al - Maqdad argued that Israel has decided to enter the picture because the Assad regime is a threat to her, but said that the Free Syrian Army is not involved in this matter.
The report joins reports on Saturday about the attack by the IDF on the night between Thursday and Friday. Yesterday the American newspaper The New York Times reported that the goal of the Air Force in this attack was a warehouse that stored "Fatah 110" missiles which arrived at Damascus airport from Iran and are also controlled by Hezbollah.
