From 2015, a new cable car will operated in Jerusalem, linking the Dung Gate, which leads to the Western Wall, to the two stations in the capital – Seven Arches Hotel, on the observation on the Mount of Olives in the east, and to the Bible Hill at the Jerusalem Khan Theatre and Cinematheque area in the west.

The cable, a joint venture of the Jerusalem Development Authority and the municipality, could lead about 6,000 visitors an hour, and should solve the huge traffic jams that characterize the area around the Old City. The cable will connect to the means of transport and railway lines and turn into an efficient transportation means.

But if it seemed that all city residents will welcome the decision, there are those who denounce: the Journal of Ha'eida, published every weekend, an article was devoted this week wrote against the new venture.

"Encouraged by the success of heretical factors," it says, "to degrade our remnant of the holy Temple in a terrible way, without any reaction from the party's members, the Municipality of Jerusalem publishes a plan to build a cable car which would pass in the worst immodest places in Jerusalem, and from there will lead tourists and visitors to the Western Wall."

Activists cited in the newspaper published by the 'Eida Haredis' say: "At this time, when the Zionist regime approves the establishment of an 'extended plaza' at the Western Wall, such a plan is just a general supplement, it is clear that the Zionist state's responsibility of the holy place will make it sooner or later into a place where a haredi person's foot can not tread."

The paper also found a way to link the 'takeover' of the state in Meron and the plan to run the cable car: "This is a warning to all concerned in particular, and any haredi Jew in general, when we are now in the midst of a campaign against the state's intention to take over the tomb of the Rashbi in Meron, what might happen if their schemes are realized, moreover their plans which were already published at the time showed that indeed they are just planning to build these things around the holy mountain, cable car, mixed mysticism centers and a theater. "

So what's the solution?

"Only by standing firmly, courageously and fearlessly against them will we manage to dispel their plans."
