Leader of the Shawl Cult: "complainants insane"

Rabbi Aharon Zvi Rumpler, head of the Congregation Tehilos Yisrael, went out with defense of Rabbi Eliezer Berland, leader of Shuvu Banim, who fled from Israel after a police investigation was opened against him on suspicion that he had committed abuse of women.

The letter was first revealed on B'Chadrei Charedim provides Rabbi Rumpler, considered the leader of the Shawl Cult: "There is no permission to believe" rumors attributed to Rabbi Berland, since he is "a great scholar and huge tzaddik." Rabbi Rumpler also states that the people behind the complaints filed against Rabbi Berland "are not sane."

"You cannot believe even if the person who says it is a loyal person, even if it comes before the court to testify he is beaten since there is no other two people he must not say slander," wrote community leader of Tehilos Yisrael "and also refers to the event stirring the Shuvu Banim community '. "The complainant is a person who is considered an insane person and imaginative, as well the woman. And two women who spoke, finally admitted to having been hired to tell lies.

According to Rabbi Rumpler, besides for loshon hora and contempt of scholars, "Anyone who believes it is gullible, stupid and lacking of self opinion." The letter states Rabbi Rumpler that Rabbi Berland does not answer the allegations against him even though he could have as its purpose is to embarrass himself and give the impression that he is "one of the greatest ever offenders and criminals. In particular whoever knows the man and his way of speech all years knows that his way is to degrade himself amongst the public and humiliate himself excessively."

"I heard and I was upset by the rumor"

In his letter, Rabbi Rumpler attacks media coverage of the case, and defines the jouranlists as "profaning Hashem's name in public."

He said those who passed the materials in the case to journalists "have helped the criminals revile against all of Israel's observant." And even opponents of the leadership of this Rabbi in other ways, it is no reason not to protest against blasphemy taking place by those."

Rabbi Rumpler's letter also refers to the fact that there is no connection between his community and Shuvu Banim. "Still after I heard I was upset by the rumor. Woe to the ears that hear and are not hurt by it and come out to protest for the glory of heaven."

So where is Rabbi Eliezer Berland?

And where is Rabbi Eliezer Berland? Estimates are that he is still present in Morocco, and chances are that he will be in the North African the country on Lag B'Omer.
